View of the new hall from a Cherry Picker

The building comprises three zones which enables us to have great flexibility in the use of the building. This has certainly helped us in the management of the building and makes life easier for both our customers and us as we don’t have a caretaker!

The 3 zones can be used independently or linked together The hall, entrance and main toilets is zone 1, Zone 2 includes the green and blue rooms which have their own toilet and changing facilities and can be entered by the side door. The sports changing rooms comprise zone 3 and are used entirely independently by the sports clubs. Each zone is has its own independent heating and servicing.

The design of the building is suitable for the disabled who have their own shower room and toilet.

Hall

Dimensions
9.5m x 16m
Max no of people
Approx 280

The hall is a pleasant large space with a timber floor suitable for games, sport and social events. It is light and pleasant, with external doors that open out onto a terrace (soon to be completed) that will face west with views to the tennis courts and the evening sun. The hall has its own kitchen. If required, the main hall can be linked to the green room to form a quiet area or somewhere to eat and chat (ideal if there is a disco in the hall!). It can function as a VIP room or a dressing room for drama performances and fashion parades. All these activities can be linked to a separate suite of toilets.

The Green Room

So called because the original carpet was green!

This room is actually used as the Cricket Pavilion but it is hired out when not required by the cricketers.

Whatever the function, this bright modern room with its patio doors opening out to a beautiful panoramic view of the cricket field and the backdrop of 21 lime trees is wonderful. The French doors opening out under a canopy give a view directly to the tennis courts and this has proved particularly useful when there is a tennis competition or open day. It has a small kitchen.

The Blue Room

Called that of course because it has a blue carpet! When the hall opened in 1998 we were all so overwhelmed by what we had and what we would have to do that these names kind of just happened and if we ever change the carpet to red we will have problems!

This room is used by football but all the sports teams are flexible in their requirements and it often becomes the place where the cricket teas take place. A small kitchen divides the green and blue rooms and can be used by groups in both rooms. Patio doors open out onto the cricket field and the French doors under the canopy give an excellent elevated view of the two bowling greens.

Disabled toilet and shower room

This is accessible from the main corridor and the building meets relevant criteria for the disabled.

Changing Rooms

Two excellent changing rooms with communal showers suitable for teams of up to 16 persons with separate toilets and a match officials’ room.

What else can one say except that visiting teams are usually impressed!
